Often times, it’s because we receive so many applications when we reopen that we need to get caught up.  There are even times when some of us decide to take much needed vacations!  Then, there are times like now.  We just plum run out of diapers!

Lately, it seems as if about 75% of our applications are for newborn or small babies.  Yep, you got it!  We’re out.  Completely OUT of small diapers.  Well, that was until last week when we started receiving donations for the diaper drive.

Ironically, we closed for applications in order to build up our “diaper cave” so that we could reopen going full blazes.  The problem is, we were so behind on smalls, all of the smalls we’ve received for our Dozens Diaper Drive so far are being shipped right back out to those in need of smalls.  As of today, Labor Day (when we shouldn’t be working!!), we need to send out diaper for 7 newborn and small babies!

Now, 7 may not sound like a lot, right?  If you translate that into 12 diapers per baby, it still may not sound like an awful lot.  But, when you put it into the REAL perspective and say that I need 84 small diapers to send out, it kinda goes from … “oh” to “DANG!” On top of that, we try not to send boys pink diapers, so we have to divide and send according to color!  One day, we’ll make a post on the process of packaging up diapers (with one person doing it!).

So, why and how long are we closed for applications?  Until we reach our goal of 1200 diapers donated so that we don’t have to keep taking long breaks!  We REALLY appreciate your patience during this time!

This past week, we have sent out over 500 diapers to families in need! That said, we are running EXTREMELY LOW on diapers and covers! Our demand always seems to exceed our supply, however, we’re grateful to be able to offer our services.

Our goal is to bring in 1,200 diapers (no fabric please) by the end of September! We would LOVE to bring in more, however, we will not be able to reopen for applications until we’ve received our goal in diapers. We average 35-50 applications each time we open, and this number would ensure that we’re able to fill the need promptly.

I am sending this email out to all of you who have applied for a cloth diaper loan since we’ve been back open on July 14.

We have received several payments, and we are awaiting several payments, however, I have some news that I regret to have to send to you.

Last week, we ran out of polymailers.  I knew it was coming, and we sent out a plea for donations, but ultimately, I ended up ordering 100 polymailers.

I am going on vacation from Thursday afternoon, July 22 until Sunday afternoon, August 1.  My goal was to have all paid packages packed up and shipped out before I leave town, however, the polymailers are not in.

Unfortunately, because we’ve purchased polymailers, and we have rent due on August 1, we are unable to go out and purchase some locally (and we don’t have anywhere local to really buy them!).

That said, I will not be able to ship ANY packages until I return from vacation the first week in August.  I will ship out those who have paid first as soon as I return.

We completely understand if you need a refund for your shipping costs.  Please know that if you do this, you can resend it to us when I return, however, it will put you back at the end of the line.

Thank you so much for your understanding, and please let me know if you’d like a refund for shipping costs.  I will be happy to do so as soon as possible.

We have opened back up for applications a day early, and we’re hoping to receive at least 25 applications by the end of the week! Do you think you can spread the word?

If you know someone in need of cloth diapering assistance? We’re here to help! Please have them fill out an applciation! Remember, there is a cost involved, but that’s for shipping!! You can use the diapers as long as you need to, depending on the package you choose!

The Jump Start

The Jump Start package allows you to pay a lower shipping fee up front and keep the diapers for as long as you need to so that you can decide when you are ready for the diapers to be passed on to the next family in need.  While your family is using our diapers you will be required to keep in contact with your Chapter Manager. You will be financially responsible for returning the diapers on your own time.

The Jump Start: 1 Child – $15, 2 Children – $20, 3 Children – $25

The Freedom

The Freedom package is a limited time loan that allows you and your family to be more aware of your financial situation and diapering budget.  With the money you save from using our diapers, you will have five (5) months to budget and begin to purchase your own diaper stash little by little to have the freedom to cloth diaper your child without assistance.  By the end of your limited loan time, you should be well on your way to your own personal stash of which you can be proud.  During the time your family is using our diapers, you will be required to keep in contact with your Chapter Manager and after your 5 month loan period, we will send you a prepaid return label. (Of course, if you find that after the 5 months you are in need of our assistance with a larger size, you may reapply for an Upsize.)

The Freedom: 1 child – $22, 2 children – $27, 3 children – $32

The Next Step*

The Next Step package is for recipients who are in need of a larger size for their babies. Please do not apply for an upsize until you have made arrangements with your Chapter Manager for the current diapers your family is using.  Your new set of diapers WILL NOT BE SENT TO YOU until we have approval from your Chapter Manager.  While you are using our diapers you will need to keep in contact with your Chapter Manager. You will be financially responsible for returning the diapers on your own time.

The Next Step: 1 child – $15, 2 children – $20, 3 children – $25
*Note: Due to our restructure, current recipients will need to complete a new application when before receiving an upsize.  You will NOT have to resubmit a copy of your driver’s license and child’s birth certificate.

DOCUMENTATION and SHIPPING PAYMENTS must be received BY June 16 in order for your diapers to be shipped before she closes up shop for the month. If you are paying via Money Order and sending your documentation via snail mail and it is not received to our mailbox by June 16, your diapers will not ship until AFTER July 15.
